Hi, I’m Kaila —
designer, illustrator, storyteller, and perpetual daydreamer.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been building worlds. As a kid, that meant sketching my favorite cartoon characters, designing “magazines” on the living room floor, staging plays in homemade sets, and even broadcasting a pretend car radio show to anyone who would listen. Creativity wasn’t just something I did — it was how I connected with the world.

That curiosity turned into skill through summers at MICA, where I learned to sharpen my eye and refine my craft. In college, I dove head-first into Theatre: Performance & Art with a focus in Graphic Design and Illustration, learning how to marry visual storytelling with clear communication. I mastered digital design tools, packaging design, and illustration, while also honing skills that still shape my work today — leading creative teams, collaborating with diverse personalities, and keeping a project on track without losing its magic.

Over the last 12+ years, I’ve worked across industries — from craft beer and hospitality to events, entertainment, and retail — designing everything from bold, market-ready packaging to large-scale event branding. As Associate Creative Director for Heavy Seas Beer, I’ve led visual campaigns, created award-winning label designs, and developed brand assets that stand out in competitive markets. As a freelancer, I’ve brought characters and worlds to life for clients who want work that feels as personal as it is professional.

My style blends the theatricality of my performance background with the precision of a designer who understands strategy and storytelling. I believe that great design should make people feel something — joy, nostalgia, curiosity — and that every detail matters, from the first pencil sketch to the final file delivery.

I’m currently based in Maryland (after an adventure in Los Angeles) and available for freelance collaborations that challenge me to think bigger, play harder, and dream brighter. If you’re looking for a creative partner who can balance vision with execution — and sprinkle in a little wonder along the way — let’s make something unforgettable together.
